The Circus Hostel Berlin

The Circus Hostel Berlin has more or less taken the city by storm. It is in a great location and gets rave reviews from everyone who goes there. It is not the cheapest hostel in town, but it is certainly one of the nicest.

The beds start at  €19 or so for a dorm room sharing with about 8 other people. This price rises over new year and at other really busy times. A single bed room will cost you a little bit more than double that, which is also not bad value but you could find cheaper elsewhere, especially since you don’t get a bathroom included. Throw in a bathroom and the price bumps up again to about €55 (and more in the busy times). You can get a full price list here.

The rooms are airy and cheery and clean and the apartments up top are really great if you need a bit more space. They are also a fantastic option for families.

It has a bar in the basement, a comfy lounge, a cafe with a great breakfast.

The Circus Hostel Berlin is in the northern part of Berlin just off Rosenthaler Platz in what was East Berlin. That puts it within easy walking distance of the trendy parts of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, with some great bars, shops and restaurants nearby. It is easy to get to on the U-bahn and it is also easy to find from Tegel Airport and Schoenefeld Airport. You can also get to it quite easily from the Hauptbahnhof (or Hbf) by catching an S-Bahn towards Alexanderplatz and then catching the U8 U-bahn.

There are also some good sights not too far away. Just a short walk will take you to the Mauerpark, which just has to be seen to be believed.  No visit to Berlin is complete without a Sunday afternoon at the Flea market and listening to the crazy Karaoke that takes place there. The hostel is also reasonably well placed to visit the Berlin Wall Memorial.

Some of the attractions nearby include the New Synagogue, the Hackescher Markt and the nearby Hackesche Höfe.

They also run a Berlin Wiki that has great set of guides and resources on Berlin.
