Kiezkind was the very first Kindercafe I came across in Berlin. We were here on a recce; it was snowing; I was heavily pregnant and we were trudging around Helmholtzplatz, with me trying very hard to visualise how I would make a life in this strange, freezing cold city with 2 offspring. I was pleasantly gob-smacked to find this cosy little haven with an indoor sandpit containing happy young ones, while their parents hung out on the surrounding benches drinking their cappuccinos. “This is definitely the way to go”, I thought.
In summertime, its also especially lovely and recently I’ve enjoyed many happy days sitting outside beneath the chestnut trees while the boys chase eachother around on Bobby cars. The café has baby food on offer, as well as snacks for older kids and decent cakes and quiches for the grown-ups.
